It is time for the old useless fart to retire, maybe take that end of life pill and counseling that ObamaScare wants old useless people to have.

Time to go out to pasture Teddy.

Ted Kennedy treats the law and congress as his personal fiefdom. Whatever is best for him must be best for all, according to his way of thinking.

Got a law that is not to your benefit? Change it.

When the change no longer benefits him, change it back.

A prime example of what is wrong in congress.

And we have 100's of those left wing psychos just like him we need to get rid of.

He is called the Lion of the Senate when he should be renamed the Idiot of the Senate or century.

His changing of the law has given Mass. citizens a chance at picking a new senator they can be proud of. It's ironic, but just, that one of his last positive actions was one that he regretted for partisan reasons.
But its time to move on.

Unfortunately, those 100's are on both sides of the aisle. Perhaps we need to start over.

Partisan hacks like Kennedy do not care what is in the best interest of the country, only what is best for their political party.

The law can be changed and then the likes of Kennedy will never have to bother changing it again, all they need to do is reword the law to say "Democrats can do whatever they deem is in the best interest of the people, it's only republicans who must follow the laws of the land.

Default MA resorts to 3rd world tactics

If MA changes the law to accomodate political advantage they should be the lead story across all formats of the media.....worldwide!

It would mean the abandonment of the American people and legislative ethics by a state government forthe benefit of national political adavntage.

Historically it would be a slap in the face to Ted K.

Downstream generations would be apalled at the disgusting political tactics....unless of course, the history was sanitized.

This is right out of a South American dictator's, 'How to Overthrow Your Government" playbook!! A desperate and heavy handed tactic of small time despots accompanied by media control and prosecution of the previous regimes officeholders.

Ted K is not the story here! Rest in Peace!

Just as lobbyists don't make the laws, it is the state legislators who have the power and would even consider doing this, that should have the bright light of the media scrutiny focused upon them. This action taken in context with today's current events is the real story.

It is a story of disgust and embarassment for our nation and the state of MA.

Let's hope the media is not MIA in this news.

So the Democrats on Beacon Hill changed the law to require a special election within 5 months "to let the people decide" and to keep the seat Democrat or so they hoped. Now I'm all in favor of the change that was made, although at the time the Democrat self interest was obvious. Given the Obama election and "Blago" debacle in Illinois, I think the case was made even more strongly that a special election is the way to go.

Now fast forward to 2009. Teddy has realized that he may be forced to abdicate his throne and may fall victim to his ailments. So now he wants the folks on Beacon Hill to change the law back to allow the Gov to appoint a replacement to fill a vacancy. Of course now the Gov is a Democrat. I wonder if Teddy would be as anxious to ensure representation if the Gov was a Republican as was the case in 2004.

What a hypocrite, but of course the Dems in Massachusetts run the state as their own kingdom, so anything is possible there.

State GOP leader calls Kennedy request 'hypocrisy' - Local News Updates - The Boston Globe
Hello: I am from Massachusetts and I agree, now that Mr. Kirk has become the placeholder for another Kennedy, I think the Congress should just change the name of the seat to a "Kennedy Chair." Much like a chair at a University. They have 69 kids in the family and that oligarchy attitude will never end.Joe Kennedy Jr. who thought about the seat is involved in about seven corporations and deals with Chavez. (According to newspaper articles, corporation papers, look it up on the net) etrc)He parades around Mass with an oil truck in the background as though he is supplying oil to the poor. Actually, Chavez sells the oil to a New York firm who then resells it to Joe who then sells it on the cheap to the "poor." He earns, salary wise, about $350,000 dollars yearly from his non-profit businesses. This family is also heavily involved with the Medical world. Everything medical is often discussed with Joe or Kerry's wife Teresa Heinz.
But the most disingenuous thing the Kennedy Family did this past week is certainly not a testament to Ted.
They, the President and the Washington Democratic leaders reportedly, Pelosi and Harry Reid called the Massachusetts State House almost every day, every hour to urge the passage of their "sixtieth" vote for healthcare. Why aren't the national news chains reporting how the legislators were pressured and under that pressure dozens of Democrats voted "NO," (they were outvoted, but a surprising number voted "No," )and when Gov. Deval Patrick asked for an emergency preamble the House of Represenmtatives voted no. and won....twice! Then our illustrious Governor used his Executive Privileges to execute a resolution declaring it...an emergency! I believe that the Gov. violated the separation of powers. There are many cases which state very clearly that policy is set by the legislative branch and that the Gov. is supposed to execute what the legislature enacts as law. Oh well, four years ago, they denied Gov. Romney the right to name and now they gave that power to Gov. Patrick....but not without a struggle. What is going on with National News? This country is being dictated to...by the new administration in the White House and the Big HOuse...oops I mean the Congress.
