Do you still buy physical media? Why? (2002, Lost, shows)

Yeah, I buy a fair amount of CD's, but I often download first via Soulseek. I can tell the difference in quality between CD and digital, particularly in my car, which is my favorite place to listen to music. I know there are digital file types (Flac and the like) that are as good as CD, but then you have the issue of storing them on my Iphone, which is 32 GB.

But if I've downloaded something and know I like it, I'll buy it on CD. Or sometimes I'll buy the CD first anyway. I do get just as excited as always to buy new CD's. Bought the Complete Works of Benjamin Britten boxset and am having a blast with it.

I can't imagine listening to all my music on Youtube. The sound quality on there is often horrendous. Certainly, if you like a wide variety of good music, you won't find it all on Youtube.

Oh and yeah, I buy books too, and DVD's though less often.

I buy used books and CDs at Half Price Books, then when I'm done, I trade them in for others. I've used Hulu for some series I missed and while it's OK, I like having DVD extras. I'd also rather record music from hard media than online.

I don't buy many DVD's but I still rent them from Netflix because about half the titles in my queue are only available as discs, not streaming.

In general I never bought too much physical media even more streaming media. But the physical media that I have cds and movie dvds, I have used while teaching English in China where many Western media websites are blocked and therefore are useful to have.

Yes, I still buy physical media because I do not have a paid TV subscription, my home won't support wireless (adobe) and my office computer is too far away from my old huge TV to plug in and stream. Besides, I watch my DVD and yes, VHS movies, repeatedly.

I also must purchase CD's since much of what I like and listen to is not available for download: middle eastern, old disco, Prince, etc.

I LOVE books and like having them around. I re-read them, can take them with me anywhere (and not worry about a battery wearing down), etc.

I do watch some stuff on the computer like old Alfred Hitchcock, National Geographic, etc specials.

But as an older person, I still have about 700 lp's, lots of middle eastern music cassettes, hundreds of music CD's, VHS tapes, etc. Heck, I still have a very nicely functioning 1968 model AKAI Stereo system with so much power, when cranked up, the windows rattle in the frames in my home !

I backup every DVD i buy and watch the backup. That way i always have a mint condition original.

Got satellite radio and rather than buy discs i just listen to the station that plays my favorite musical and talk radio genres.
After playing video games for 30 years the games became just another game so no more games.
Dont watch movies except 2X a month me and the missus go to a movie theatre.
So i guess i'm in the camp that doesnt buy physical media anymore.

I don't think physical media is going anywhere any time soon, eventually maybe, but not for a long time. We just bought a movie for my son on DVD a couple weeks ago, and still have plenty of other DVDs laying around. Heck we still have VHS tapes sitting around, not that we have a working VHS player anywhere unfortunately, but the tapes are still there.

I dump the best tunes onto my computer then burn CD's with the best of the best by genre. Again, the CD's are in perfect condition - but what for I am not sure since they will soon be worthless. Oh well.

I still buy CDs. If someone can tell me what to buy that will beat the sound of the CD I'd be happy to look into it. I buy a few books, but mostly read on an electronic reader. I don't purchase DVDs anymore.
