From the Coen brother's Miller's Crossing, I learned that since cold causes most substances to shrink, one should always run one's razor under cold water before each swipe across one's face - the shrinking of the metal blade results in a finer edge, and thus a closer shave.

Part of me has always suspected that this is not true, or at least that the difference in the shave is negligible.

But still, I always do it...

This will sound corny. But I have actually learnt how to be a leader from playing video games. I used to play various MUD text games ages ago. I would be a group leader and I shouted at people when they stuffed things up. The whole group would just disband and run off in protest. Once a person in the group got upset at me and said that she was in tears and was going to give up playing the game altogether.

So I learnt that you have to be more tolerant of other people's limitations.

I have learned a great deal about history from movies, the imitation game was a recent one for example.

Generally for me its vocabulary. I had NO idea the words 'malefic' and 'Arcane' where actually words with meaning. Many more but I like having strange words jumping around in my head I can throw around every now and then.

I think I learned the most from the Simpsons because their jokes always made me look up stuff. I know I learned that Grover Cleveland served 2 nonconsecutive terms as president and that only Dumpster brand disposal bins can truly be called Dumpster by trademark.

This might sound kinda dopey, but when I was a kid I really loved soap operas- learned from them that many serious problems can stem from simple misunderstandings.
