Mediterranean is in the whole country, but the best gastronomy is in the centre-north. And the biggest dishes
There's no mediterranean cuisin in the north, I don't think you can find a dish spiced with "romero", "tomillo" or "albahaca" in the north. The dishes in the north are mostly made with seafood or beef, while in the mediterranean, is most common the lamb and the pig, and the seafood is totally different.
They do use rosemary, bay leaves, paprika and the entire works.
For example, Basque food is MED, so is Asturian and Galician food. There was a very old saying that said "the north cooks, the center bakes and the south fries"...but that's a very gross generalization...
For example, a bacalao al pil pil or a caldo gallego are Med food....
Currently, food, even "typical foods" are standardised..if you read a cookbook from the 19th century from any Spanish region, you would find entirely "unmediterranean" foods that could kill any average inhabitant of the peninsula.
Agree. Murcia is nice, good weather, nice people, superb food and superb wine (yecla and jumilla).
I agree, Murcia is beautiful and the people are amazing. The wine is not up to snuff with Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Bierzo and Ribeira Sacra IMO though.

I know it's classed as mediterranean, but that's only a marketing strategy. Mediterranean cuisine isn't only olive oil, and bacalao is far from been mediterranean.
Ah damned, I voted for Andalusia, after which I saw Castile-la Mancha was also on the list. Not that I don't appreciate Andalusia, but I adore Castile-La Mancha: the wide, dry landscapes, the windmills, the enormous skies, the feeling of aloneness when you drive over windswept deserted highways for kilometers on end...A wonderful region.

I prefer Castilla y Leon to the other Castilla. Actually, I prefer Andalucia as well to La Mancha.
