How are Swiss people considered to be?

I found Switzerland to be beautiful, orderly, and probably the cleanest place I've ever seen. I found the Swiss to be reserved, polite, quiet, and detached - in other words, almost literally silent. In fact, that's one thing that struck me about Switzerland - how incredibly quiet the place and people seem to be.

I wouldn't say it's a NEGATIVE, but it was certainly not LIVELY compared to many other places in Europe I've been. Truly beautiful though, and as others have pointed out, it runs like a well oiled machine. You can only have that level of efficiency at the expense of flexibility and impulsiveness...and self expression.

Swiss are xenophobic and money hungry, much more so than the Germans.

Geneva and Basel were bearable though since those cities are where a lot of foreign residents live or work.
