Voineasa Resort and Vidra Reservoir

Voineasa is a mountain village and resort on the very isolated Lotru Valley, surrounded by all sides by mountains on a long distance. Because is the farthest zone from any industrial plant in Romania, is considered the least polluted place in country. Voineasa is also the place where I was born

Lotru River, 76 km long, flows entirely in mountainous region and empties in Olt, in latter river's 47 km long defile across the entire width of the Carpathians.

Vidra Reservoir, situated 30 km upstream from Voineasa, is 8 km long and 1.4 km wide. The dam and the hydro plant were built between 1965 and 1972. It is the second largest hydro plant in Romania, after Iron Gates.

Târgu Mureș / Marosvasarhely, Szekely Land, Transylvania

The city is the major Szekely settlement but in later decades the romanian element slightly overcome the Hungarian one. among other architectural atrtractions, it has some Secession buildings, including the Culture Palace, perhaps the finest in Romania belonging to this current

Blaj, Transylvania

A village for centuries, with the conversion of most of Transylvanian Romanians to Greek Catholicism (a religious deomination similar with the Orthodoxy but obbeying the Pope) around the year 1700, Blaj was transformed in the cultural and religious center of the Transylvanian Romanians. There are significative 18th century Baroque landmarks, including the Greek-Catholic cathedral in first picture
