And the US (and maybe everyone) has had its fair share of political whacks as well, like the idiot who said to the US oil companies "we are going to nationalize you"; that got some good laughs.

Zhirinovsky has zero power in Russia, he is known for his outlandish antics more than doing anything, how he is even in politics is amazing, other than the support of the old guard of idiots.

This is one of those great questions like "do you think the UK is going to attack the US within 20 years? It seems the UK wants their territory back."

Absolutely ridiculous notion, with zero support for it.

And I don't think he would be stupid enough to attack a member of the EU. Its not like NATO would just stand by and watch a major western country and EU member being attacked.
He has no interest in reestablishing the USSR, I mean he has not even annexed the Ossetia; that to me does not look like someone who is trying to reestablish anything. The Ukraine issue is an issue of naitional security for Russia, nothing more.

Well, it reestablished, once again, its reputation, even to those who didn't wanna see it, as a thief and murderer. Mission accomplished.
