I think the happiest population must be in some environment like Carribean archipelagoes. Even here in Romania, the cold season, with its lack of foliage and short days, is quite depressing.
Anyone been to Denmark? I am thinking of visiting next year. I keep reading how the people of Denmark are the happiest. If you have gone or live there tell me your thoughts, and let me know what I need to know when visiting. Thank you
They're not the happiest. They come out ahead on the survey simply because they rate themselves as happy. But their high anti-depressant consumption and alcoholism says otherwise.

]Happiness can only be measured on an individual basis,[/b] i don't understand how people link happiness/sadness etc to nationalities.
I agree happiness can only be measured on an individual basis and to add happiness is completely subjective, once you attempt to objectively measure happiness in another individual I think what information you obtain will be of little value, because you will be measuring what your criteria of happiness is not theirs.

Danes alcohol consumption is nothing special and much lower than in Romania and Russia for example:
And it's dropping, because our boring ass youth are overly concerned with health.
Denmark's usage of antidepressants is high, but that is mainly because antidepressants are used for treating other illnesses than depression (such as autism, anxiety, regular physical pain, epilepsy etc).

I don't agree with you at all. Not everyone likes hot weather. Personally for me, even here summers are often too hot to comfort. Not to mention there are also tropical diseases (may be, in developed places like Florida in Hawaii they aren't very common, but the Caribbean is mostly quite poor region) and dangerous animals like venomous snakes and spiders, centipedes, termites etc. (they can sometimes happen in cold climates, but they're far more common in tropical and subtropical climates and there they are active year-round).
I strongly doubt that these ratings are true. I've also read many times that all people in Denmark (and in Scandinavia in general) are depressed and unhappy because of the weather. I've never been there, but I don't think it's true either.
This is so untrue. Southern people just don't understand this cultural difference.

Yup, I agree. I dislike the heat of Southern Europe, it makes me unhappy which is why I only visit Southern Europe early spring or late autumn. I much prefer the climate up here in the Nordic countries.
In fact, the colder, the better.
