Everyone has some affection for the land of their forefathers. Besides white Americans look like Europeans and have deep cultural connections with Europe. The fact that most of them share religion with Europeans is another factor. And the language that Americans speak has their origin from an island in Europe called Britain. Thus concern for Europe is natural. And if you read the migration history of USA , America always had large scale immigration from European countries during the 1800s and 1900s which in historical terms is quite recent . If Europeans had immigrated to America during say the BCs or 1100s than the concern for Europe by Americans would appear strange.
It's quite strange because Aussies or Canadians show affection for Britain, but for Europe?
There's no such thing.
In the case of Canadians, they do respect the culture of immigrants, but in the US there was a general brainwash, including original culture.

Not really. There is little cultural connection with America and Europe in addition to White Americans really not looking like White Europeans at all.

this is a strange statement.
modern America would be unimaginable without Europe. Aside from different fashion trends and waist sizes, white Americans and Europeans generally look the same.

It is true. The cultural heritage of the US is a unique hybrid of Semitic Akkadian culture of the 3rd millennium BCE and the medieval African empire of Benin.
And White Americans have a striking resemblance to Australian aborigines and Samoyeds.
It was a week ago last Wednesday...in case you missed it there's a sequel in the works, General Brainwash II scheduled for release early November 2016.
What matters is culture, not race. Europe is not obsessed with race. A black from Africa that speaks German and known German history is more German than some American that claims that his granny 100 years ago was from Poppel.
