Well, you have to live in a "hub" city that can fly you to as many European destinations as possible, non-stop. Try flying from a medium sized EU city in the North to Seville, for example: it will take at least 7-8 hours. I found it quickest to fly from Copenhagen to Malaga, non-stop, and take a 2 hour train ride.
