So, I'm reasonably healthy to my knowledge. But a few times a year, I'll just take down a large bag of chips or pack of cookies in as little as 2 days. I know this kind of binge eating is really bad for you and has me concerned. Does anyone else do this? I just did it for the second time this year... ugh.
My Diet: I eat almost all vegetarian at home, but enjoy a good steak when I eat out.
My Exercise: Fast-Walk on the treadmill 30 minutes in the morning daily; Jog 2 miles outside after work daily; Strength training twice/week at the gym.
My Body: 6 Ft, approximately 175 LB. Slim, leaning on muscular... but nothing to take my shirt off for.
I'm concerned about my binge-eating and the impact it has on my health. Anyone else do this? I know it's bad for me while I'm doing it but I still do it. Otherwise, I rarely snack between meals (except for my daily Starbucks run.. but only for a drink, not food).
I don't know that I would consider a couple of instances where I ate a half of bag of chips in a day over the course of 365 days to be a really serious binge issue, myself, particularly if I'm a reasonably fit and active person.
Yeah, I dont think eating a bag of chips or a pack of cookies in two days a couple times per year is really binge eating.
If that is the case then almost all of us are binge eaters. Actually, I could probably put away a bag of Double Stuff Oreos in a week, but that probably only happens one every 2-3 years.
keep an eye on your weight and get your numbers checked. i eat the same thing monday - friday (except sometimes friday dinner). the weekends ill go out to eat maybe 2-4 meals and i will have a dessert (usually split with someone) and ill what what i want. i never try to go overboard but no item that i enjoy is off limits. if i eat so much in one meal, ill try to scale back the other meals in the day. its fine. there is room in anyones diet for plenty of the good stuff.
Thanks for your responses guys. I check out fine at the physical and everything. I like to do what I can to make sure I'm healthy. This pigging out thing is just one of my weaknesses. I guess I'll have to learn to be okay with it mentally.

I do this as well. Maybe 3 or 4 times a year, when things are really stressful. I don't buy chips or store bought cookies, so for me it's a pint of ice cream in a sitting.
The way I see it, after not eating that junk food for so long I don't have any urges to eat them at all let alone binging on them. Some one offers me a soda now I'd rather not drink anything then sip that stuff. Some one offers me cupcakes or cookies, I can turn it down without feeling bad about it. And as an ex chocolate junkie that's saying something.
If I cheat eating something bad I will punish myself in the gym to make up for it. That's just me, I take it serious.
when i have tried very strict diets to get better ab definition, i have found myself at times so hungry that i need to go get food. that has led to a few binges. just a few times but they would either be a meal at kfc (2 piece grilled with cole slaw and biscuit) or if earlier a mcdonalds breakfast (bacon egg cheese mcgriddle with hash browns and coffee). right now im on a diet where i am making very slow steady progress towards my goal but it is very sustainable for me. i never really have serious hunger issues. last night my wife asked me if i plan on getting more strict with my diet. i can probably make small changes but im so happy right now i dont want to.
