Lastly I would suggest trying a little barefoot running to strengthen your feet. Start with a very short, slow run, and very gradually increase. It will strengthen calves, too. If you don't have access to a treadmill where you can run bf, and don't want to do it outdoors, get some vibram five fingers or other 'minimalist' running shoes.
I used to get them, and plantar fasciitis, from working as a caddy. Two things would help stretch them out; riding an upright bike, and rolling a ball around would help.
