Since compression shorts are undergarments, why do some women wear panties under them? Isn't that the same as wearing 2 pairs of panties? I'm a woman and I don't get it. I play sports and work out and compression shorts are the undergarment of choice for me, or a skort which is a skirt with built in compression shorts.
I don't ever go commando, even when working out. Wearing underwear absorbs some of the sweat, and for me it's more comfortable. Why does it bother you what others do?

You are not going commando because compression shorts ARE underwear. Going commando is wearing jeans, a dress or non work-out clothing with no underwear. I wear compression shorts for sports because they wick sweat and dry quickly, which is exactly what you need for playing sports. I have a running debate with some of my friends about this. I recently found this forum and thought I'd poll other women.
If the compression shorts have cotton crotches (not merely cotton surface on the inside, but 100% cotton through and through), then there's no need for additional underwear. But if they aren't, then you need underpants with a cotton crotch between your body and the shorts. Unless you don't mind getting yeast infections. Yeast thrives on 3 things: moisture, heat, and lack of air. Cotton-crotched underwear adds a layer of air that will -prevent- moisture from trapping against the skin, thus preventing - or at least delaying - the risk of yeast infections.

Cotton does not dry quickly, so if you wear them under compression shorts these wet cotton panties are not allowing any air flow. I've always heard that wearing cotton underwear for sports is not a good idea since it won't dry and this can cause yeast infections.
