While we decide to exhaust our excess calories at the gym, there are a few things which might lead to a change in our mood. Maybe, the etiquettes that other members fail to follow. Personally I don't like it when I don't get the weights at proper place or if I find sweat of a person on the treadmill handle. What according to you are the 'Don'ts' at the gym?

Too many gym participants refuse to sanitize equipment after use (most facilities provide the spray and paper towels).

There are thefts of items left in the lockers, be sure to properly secure your personal items.

While on a treadmill or an elliptical, some speak loudly on their cell phones. . . very annoying.

For the most part, those who are inconsiderate outside of a gym, are the same while inside the gym.

I get annoyed with people who hog the resistance machines and stay seated in between sets so no one can use it.

Any more than an hour on cardio machines, meaning elliptical, stepper... is too long. Go do something else to give others a chance to use equipment.

Agree w previous posts, not cleaning sweat and Bogarting resistance equipment is a nono.

My gym is small and although it has 6 regular bikes it only has one spin bike. There is one guy that comes in and stays on it for 1 hour! I stay on for 30 mins but would do 45 if I knew nobody was waiting. There are signs all over the gym that say limit to 20 minutes on CV machines when someone is waiting.

Another one of these threads. One of many reasons I dropped my gym membership. Crowds, waiting equipment, etc.

Clean off whatever you use, even if you don't think you really dirtied it.

Don't come to the gym sick.

Don't hold conversations in between sets. Either use the equipment or don't, no one wants to wait 30 mins while you do 4 sets on a bench.

When using the dumbbells, stand AWAY from the dumbbell rack so you're not in the way, not right up on it.

Oh, and don't hoard dumbbells. You don't need to take the 20, the 25, the 30, and the 35.

Don't talk on your cell phone - you are not that important
Don't wear perfumes or colognes
Put equipment back after using it
Don't hog an area or a piece of equipment

DO'S:
1. Wipe before and after your sets.
2. Re-rack your weights.
3. Be considerate to others.
4. Get in, work out, and get out.
DON'T:
1. Hogging all the weights.
2. Stationing at a bench/machine while talking on your phone.
3. Being loud/screaming/grunting while working out.
4. Slamming the weights after your sets as if you're getting probed by aliens.
5. Playing loud music (mostly degraded ones) on your portable speakers.

This if if you're a guy:

A gym is not a pick up place; don't hit on the ladies. Instead, be friendly and courteous in the cafe or juice bar if they have one.

Don't stare at the ladies while they're on the elliptical machines. Be discreet.

If you're gay, don't stare at the other guys in the locker room or steam room. Be discreet.
