My paternal grandparents lived to be 95 and 99. I'm not sure I'd want to live beyond 70ish.
That's weird.
Why on earth not?
I know a ton of 70 and 80 year olds who are running around (literally) having a good time traveling, playing sports, etc.
I saw a kung fu movie where an old man was beating up a lot of young fighters. It took 3 expert fighters to finally kill him. So, it's possible to be old and in excellent shape.
I wish I could check-out when I want to, when I'm ready. When I've done what I wanted, seen what I wanted, experience what I've wanted. It's a journey that needs an end destination. A book with a last chapter. I don't want to hang-on just to be alive. When all is said and done, time to turn the lights out and close the door.
When you get to 70, you'll think that's too young to die. A lot of people are still very active at that age; going hiking, weekend fishing expeditions, always learning new skills and growing as a person. Some are strong as an ox, stronger than people in their 20's.
Yep, I believe that a healthy 70 year old has some great golden years ahead. It's what you do in your younger years that are the key to longevity I feel. Life's a marathon not a sprint, slow down enjoy the train ride. The station will arrive soon enough as the timeless poem by Robert Hastings tells us.....
