Really don’t think gyms should be open phase 1. Most gyms are disgusting even without the corona going on. What are they gonna do let 10 people in at a time? I don’t think this is a smart idea.
If people could get Covid-19 tests, it would solve much of the problem. You would only be able to use the gym if you have had a recent test. Since only 1% of the population have had tests, it won't help in the short term.

I was shocked gyms were on the Phase 1 list. They’re dirty, sweaty, gross, germ infested places on a good day. Waking into mine after 3 pm and the odor is just unbelievable. Even before the virus I was always horrified at the girls who workout in crop tops- hello people have dripped sweat and who knows what else on those benches and mats and now you’re laying on it with your BARE SKIN??? Ewwwwwww.
I missed the gym the first week but I bought some weights and found a fitness program I’ve come to look forward to every day. I think I’ll pass on returning to the gym for a few more weeks.

I really have no idea how they are going to enforce social distancing either. As we have seen and personally experienced lately, many many people don't practice social distancing at all. And gyms tend to attract some of the most inconsiderate people around with disgusting habits. Lots of bodily fluids floating around and on the equipment, saliva, mucous, bacteria, etc.

Not like I care what people think as we don't have visitors now anyway but still.....
What I'll likely do is take it all apart and hang onto it for another 6 months or so just in case. I don't want to have to go through the process of finding/buying weights all over again.
What I have is fine....some of the weights are rusted a bit but everything works fine. It's just not gym quality.
That's a good way to do it. Just keep the workout stuff stored away until the next rainy day.
Just limit how many customers or employees return each day Let them rotate. Restaurants should limit the n# of people and seat them at least 6-7 ft apart. This goes for any public businesses.
I'm glad to see it come back. I live in a city of 29,000 with one confirmed case. About 45 in the county of ~160,000. With that said, my Y is $55/month, has been closed since before St. Patty's Day, and took dues out in April for a closed gym.
They did some renovations. I'll give them one more month, but it really ticks me off how they took dues out as normal for a legally closed facility.
I am a retiree and I live close to Fort Wainwright in Alaska and work out on a military base. Several weeks ago they closed to to all except active duty. I just checked today out of curiosity and they are closed to all but still open to active duty with a sign stating mask required , no more than 50 people and social distancing.
Lots of open are for hiking and walking so that has been my exercise I'll admit if they reopen the gym to all I'd be tempted to get right back in even though a high use high traffic area seems to be a risky area to pick up a virus.
Interesting that in the PX and Commissary I see 100% of staff and customers wearing masks.
Downtown Fairbanks about 50% of customers and maybe 20% of staff are masked.
Glad to see that in phase 1. I'm sure Planet Fitness will re-open as soon as legally possible. They offer ample paper towels/disinfectant throughout their gyms. As soon as they re-open, I'll be there!

It would have to be the antibody test. The "regular" Covid19 test, you could test negative today, but be positive tomorrow. Maybe they'll do the temperature scan guns at the door?

I hope you guys can sell your home gym equipment for a good price. I, for one, would never buy someone's used equipment since this virus happened.
