I average between 3.5 and 4.5 miles per hour, after I've warmed up. But some days I struggle to truck along at 3 miles an hour. Depends on what's going on in my head, I guess. Or my knees.
Have to say this time element is also influenced by "stride length".
My hubby can walk at the same pace with me on a tread mill and he's ging 4.1miles/hour and I'm going 3.2!
World-class racewalkers (male and female) can average under seven and eight minutes per mile (or under four and five minutes per kilometre, respectively), in a 20 km (12 mi) racewalk.[
It is very difficult to walk that fast without breaking into a jog or run. You actively have to train yourself not to run in order to hit that pace.
Well, 4 mph would be a 15 minute mile, by definition. 4 mph on my treadmill is a slow jog or a very fast walk for me. I work up a good sweat walking at 3.5 mph, but I can hold at that pace for an hour or more. I can walk at 4 mph, but not for very long, yet. I'm 5'6". If I were in really good shape, I could see my speed walking possibly getting as high as 5.0 mph (a 12 minute mile pace), but not much faster.
My husband, on the other hand, who is 6'4" walks at 4 mph as a warmup and can easily walk at a 4.5 mph pace without working up a sweat. I could easily see him speed walking at 6.0 mph, maybe even now, being out of shape. And that is a 10 minute mile. So height, leg length, stride length, etc do make a difference.
Just got back from the gym. It took me 39 minutes to go 2 miles at 3.5 mph, no incline. That's a brisk walking pace for me. The fastest I can go without breaking into a run is 3.8 mph. Oh, and I'm 5'5" in average shape.
I walk one mile in 40 minutes back and forth. How many miles is that back. Amd forth if I did it in 40 minutes? Can someone help me on that pleasne n thank u
