She is ok, not good looking. She is big-boned and has very wide hips, which means she should not wear any A-line, flared skirts or dresses. So far, that's what I see her wearing instead of straight skirts, which will give her hips a narrower look. I really don't know who picks her outfits but they are not doing a good job at all so it is time for her to replace them. The dress she wore for the inauguration is pretty but it is not for wide-hipped people like her.
Why does a woman with wide hips have to do everything she can to hide them? What of she likes her hips and likes the way they look in her clothes? Can't a "wide hipped person like her" be in love with the way she looks?
Most women who are noted for their fashion choices, or who we are used to seeing in media, are models, actresses or wannabes (think Kardashians), who tend to be small-framed and very thin. Michelle Obama is very tall, and has a big frame with broad shoulders and hips. She just doesn't look like most of the women we are accustomed to seeing.
Still, she's a beautiful woman who wears lovely clothes. She just doesn't happen to look like everyone else.
Maybe something slightly tapered would look better. No need to try to overly feminize her with long flowing gowns. It doesn't work. Red tends to make the wearer look harsh. I liked the bangs at first, but am on the fence now. They don't accentuate the best parts of her face properly. Maybe a side bang would work better.

I don't think the wide hips are her problem. I think it's crazy to wear Bolero jacket when she has a short waist, it makes her look like a human pear. I did however, like the bangs they somehow hid her usual scowl.
