why do women want to look pretty and more attractive? is it not enough to be healthy and disease-free? why do they want to have bleach white teeth, blemish and wrinkle-free skin and toned and athletic legs instead of a healthy body with a reasonable BMI?

I hardly wear makeup day to day, pretty much just tinted moisturizer (enjoying my youth while I have it), but some extra makes me feel confident and more glowing. It really doesn't keep me up at night though. is it not enough to be healthy and disease-free?It's plenty enough, this is what most people want. why do they want to have bleach white teeth,I don't like bleach white, but white means I keep up on my oral health, which in turn links to heart health amongst many other things blemish and wrinkle-free skin someone already mentioned that too much sun exposure is very unhealthy, but I have several birth marks or blemishes I don't bother coveringand toned and athletic legs instead of a healthy body with a reasonable BMI? toned and athletic is a reasonable BMI? I'm quite athletic and have a very healthy body fat percentage. I can't run a marathon but I can cary my groceries up 3 flights of stairs and compete in sports with my friends. I will never have the time to become "ripped", but ironically I think about 60% of the population is overweight, so I'm not sure where you get the idea that this is priority to many people.
See above. All the things you described reflect good health. Most people want to look good, because it makes them feel good, and who doesn't want to feel good?

Usually it is the male animal that has to rely on his looks to get the girl. For most species, the females are the plain ones, the males are the ones that are colorful and adorned. In some species the males even do sexy dances for the females. I think the human species should put more pressure on men to look hot, and a lot less pressure on women. The animals have it right as usual.
