Do you wear pierced or clip-on earrings?

My mother and ladies of her generation favored the clip on type, and they didn't sell very many of the pierced at the time. Pierced were more of a European style. Right after the war, women shied away from "foreign" styles. I inherited a lot of my mother's clip ons, which I gave to Goodwill, because I have pierced.

I got my ears pierced because they are more secure, they do't fall off like clips, and, they are more comfortable. The clips have to be extremely tight just to stay on!

So, just a little survey, what do you wear, peirced or clip? Are clips more an older lady thing?

Note, I mean just ONR hole per ear, in the ear lobe, not a ton of holes all along the ear rim, etc!

I'm 29 and have double ear lobe piercings. I prefer them to clip-ons, although I have sensitive ears and so have to be choosy about my earrings. Yes, I do believe clip-ons are more popular among the elderly set.

Never clip on. I have my ears pierced but because I never wore earrings they closed. I sometimes wish they had not. I am not a jewelry person but some delicate diamond earrings I may like to wear.
My grandma who past 20 plus years ago used to wear clip on.

You do have to wear pierced earrings, or the holes close up. I still have my first pair of earrings, I had mine pierced at the doctor, I was 17. My mother insisted it be done at the doctor, to avoid infection. Of all my friends who had their piercing done at the mall, I was the only one who went to the doctor, and I was the only one not to get infected!

The roiginal earrings the doctor put in were gold, with surgical steel posts, the posts are larger and longer than regular posts, so when the holes closed, they didn't close up. I still wear them, after all these years, partly because I like them, and, to keep the holes from closing up.

I doubt the holes in my ears would ever close up after all these years. Mine have been pierced for 47 or so years.

I wear pierced earrings every day I go out of the house. I usually wear a pair of smaller oval earrings. I don't feel dressed without earrings.

I've had mine pierced for 40 years, with second piercings done about 25 years ago. I had a cartilage piercing done about 20 years ago (upper earlobe) & it never quit hurting. It grew in about 4 yrs ago. I usually wear diamond studs in the second piercings, and hoops or other earrings in the main ones. I've never worn clip-ons or "ear screws". Too bad you got rid of your clip-ons--it's not hard to convert them to pierced, or even use them as a pendant or enhancer on a necklace.

I was pierced as a baby and my holes are still here. I hardly ever wear them and my ears haven't closed up. However, my parents made sure I wore earrings 24/7 until age 7, so that's probably way.

Had mine pierced many yrs ago when I was 16 at a major jewelry store - no problems whatsoever - had another hole pierced yrs later but I cant think where (probably at another jewelry store) - my mother wore clip-ons for yrs but eventually she got hers pierced as well. I always wear a stud in the one pair of holes and if we go out, usually wear a dangly or hoop earring in the other pair.
