I've been seeing a LOT of it lately (last two months or so).

Guys wearing ties just hanging around their neck (like how you'd normally set a tie before tying it....just both sides hanging down). I don't mean the "after 5" look with the loosened tie...I mean, totally undone.

The oddest ones are the guys who do this with shirts that don't support ties (like a sweater, for example).

Was there a source for this? Some celebrity did this somewhere or something? Looks ridiculous imo, but I'm seeing it a LOT.

I have not seen this anywhere either.

What I thought was becoming trendy was wearing a tie which was knotted losely, with the shirt collar button un-done.

Yep, that's been around a while...I do it myself from time to time (though sometimes it's just because I have the neck of a linebacker and I don't have an option!).

This was just silly. First few times I just brushed it off....but I'll guess I've seen it 20-30 times in the last couple of months. In multiple locations (southwest....Vegas, Phoenix, LA).

I haven't noticed this either. Is this an out and about thing or at working places? It kind reminds me of kids and their school uniforms, LOL. "Ok, you can make me wear this tie or whatever but you can't make me tie it"

I see it alot with people in their car or walking around on the street. I think in those cases people just like to be more comfortable when the buttoned up look is not needed. In my case for example, I would only wear a tie for a board meeting. The rest of the day it will be on but loose with the top button open.

It's an out and about thing. Like, at trendy bars, nightclubs, etc. Not necessarily anywhere that REQUIRES a tie (though that did make me chuckle!), but just guys out and about in areas where they would typically dress nice/trendy. Pants, shirt, tie hanging over the back of the neck.

I should also stress, these weren't bowties either...I mean plain, regular ties just draped over the neck.

At any rate, I'm glad nobody's heard of it. I'm hoping it was just a temporary fluke or something that I mentally blew out of proportion.

You're talking about the "after 5" look. The tie is still tied...just loose. That's ok

What I'm referring to is a tie completely undone, hanging over the neck like an untied scarf.

Oh, in that case, I have never seen it. Must be a regional thing in your area.

Fortunately I haven't seen this, but I don't have to see it to know how stupid it is.

Possibly not as bad, though, as the Herb Tarlek look--tie tied, but the front hanging down rather than pulled through the knot.

Remember that?
