Hey there. I'm a 20 year old guy looking for suggestions on buying sandals. As the weather warms up, my feet have started becoming very uncomfortable in sneakers and closed toed shoes. I have an old pair of sandals, but they are all dirty and worn out. As I will be using sandals a lot during the summer, my requirement is that they are durable, comfortable on my feet and can be used extensively for a couple years. Any suggestions on brands I could start looking at.

My feet are typically cleaned every day as per Hindu custom, and toenails are trimmed every 2 weeks, so rest assured there is nothing spooky or unclean you will see in my feet (if that's going to be a basis of criticism).

Try Teva brand sandals. They are the most comfortable I have. I still have ( and wear when gardening) the first pair I ever bought and that was about 25 years ago if not more.

These are my favorite: Mens Surf Flip Flops | Water & Sport Collection | Okabashi Shoes

They're cheap, have good arch support, and last for years. The care instructions say you can put them in the dishwasher but I have never tried it.

?? What does that mean? Doesn't everybody clean their feet while showering? Or is there a specific Hindu procedure? I am curious, do I need to google that?

We have to clean our feet every time entering the house after going outside. Doing otherwise is unsanitary in Hinduism.

Sandals are also a must-have for shared-showers ; eg, dorms.

Quicksilver has good quality sandals, as does Crocs.

Be sure to test that they do not slice open your feet when they walk, and that they are durable. Many vendors sell cheap shoes that hurt you and fall apart in weeks. $50 USD will buy you a quality pair of sandals that will last you at least ten years. A $1 - $20 pair of sandals you will be replacing yearly or more.

And I third it. I've been wearing them for years, but I've bought very few pairs--they just refuse to wear out.

I have been real happy with these, OluKai Ohana Leather. Great arch support:

I really like addidas slides, with arch support, too. Great for a shower shoe!

Are you looking for sandals or flip-flops? I would go with Keens for something all around. If you want a nice pair of leather sandals try Johnston & Murphy.
