I saw it as white and gold earlier but now I see it as black and blue every time I see it now
Me too. The first time I saw it was on my dd's phone in a dark room and I thought it was white and black. Then I looked at it in brighter lighting and it looked clearly white and gold. Now if I stare at it it goes from white and gold to blue and black but for a just a moment when I look at it it's white and gold but I can no longer maintain that perception.
This is all probably and intentional marketing ploy.
It's a doctored photo, that's why no one can figure it out.
The dress looks White and Gold because the photo has a warm/super bright filter added to it - what's irritating, is that the "proof" is another photo of the dress, and the colors don't look the same as the original picture either. It sorta feels like the dress maker is pulling a fast one to get attention and boost sales.

When I bring it into my photo editor and darken the entire photo to where it was originally, it does come out blue and black, but since it was lightened so much it made it more of a periwinkle and brass.

Yeah. My mother saw white and gold as well. I showed a blue x black pic, and she agreed it was those colors there. But she was thinking it's 2 different dresses. Same style and make-up just 2 different colored dresses.
Mmm..at first glance I think white and gold. But upon a closer inspection I see that the gold is actually more of an ocher. It is a bit too muddy to be called gold.
At any rate, I do not like it. I hate ocher; my least favorite color, along with olive drab.
What I think is awesome is someone somewhere figured out how to get America arguing over a dress, and we haven't figured out how to stop, even seem to still care about, the ebola outbreak and ISIS. Kudos to you, whoever you are. I wish I could be that clever.
