I like them a lot because on more casual days at work they actually look more professional/formal than blue denim. Blue jeans are a little below our dress code but black ones (not super faded or ones with stupid fake holes, etc.,) are work appropriate where I work.
One of my jobs required "black slacks" so myself and many others wore black denim. The work was physical and jeans were more durable. Other than that I don't wear denim.
