Hey, don't knock nonfunctional clothing. My short 5'2" self needs those high heels to reach things on the top shelves in my kitchen
You hussy. Wearing those stilettos and that cute little lacy apron pretending to cook in the kitchen!
If I could find shoes with no soles whatsoever I'd be fine. I'm nearly as tall as my husband when I'm barefoot. Put a shoe with a heel on me and I feel like an Amazon.
But of course, that Amazonian feeling can come in handy and actually be functional. When I was working in outside sales I always wore high heels - I liked looking men in the eye or actually being a little taller than them, if they started trying to "negotiate tough" with "the little gal from _____ Company."
Earrings and other jewelry actually have a functional history; it was how people carried around their valuable gems without risking having them easily stolen. I guess you could carry around your larger valuables in that...blanket around the neck thing.

OP does have a point. In ten years or so the next generation is going to look at pictures of the worst examples (because that's usually how that works, google eighties fashion, lol). and they are going to wonder "wth were they thinking?!!" http://but I'm still cold http://help, I'm being attacked http://cool bro!
I don't like the infinity scarves. I wear an actual scarf, though, several times a day. I look at them like fabric necklaces. It's fun trying to find them in lightweight fabrics for summer.
Gee, a lot of fashion accessories don't serve any functional purpose other than to, you know, accessorize?
And if clothing was meant to be functional only, why have so many different styles and cuts of clothes?? We could have one type/cut of pant, top, jacket, shoe, etc. After all the function doesn't change, whether it's a flared or a skinny leg jean, a skin-tight top or an oversized sweatshirt.
Weird question imo.
Oh and I LOVE infinity scarves, though tbh I don't wear the low-hanging ones. I'm always cold in the winter and hate feeling cold wind on my neck and face so my favorite thing is big, chunky-knit infinity scarves I can pull up almost to my nose and bury my face in So cozy and looks good, especially a chunky knit scarf with a leather jacket
