People should wear what they want. Whatever makes them feel good. I don't judge anyone else because I had to wake up and look in the mirror this morning!
I do hate loathe and despise clothing that sexualizes young girls/tweens. Kids deserve to be kids. They grow up too fast anyway! That's me being judgmental!
Please explain why you feel it is appropriate for a young woman, and exactly why it's not appropriate for an older woman?

The first case is adding something pleasant and positive to the world, like a flower garden in bloom, whereas the second case is a turn-off.
Are you two being obtuse on purpose? Did I somehow get trapped into stating the obvious?
Last month I was behind this woman that was in her 70's (our husbands were in a discussion), and she was the saddest attempt to looking young that I had ever seen.
Her long hair, which wasn't particularly pretty, was dyed pitch black with a bandana tied around her head 70's style, a pair of 70's style pants, a tank top, and sandals on a pair of the ugliest feet I'd ever seen. She may have had a nice trim shape in her youth but now she looked bony and with very aged skin. Her face looked old. I told my husband later that if I ever start to do that, just shoot me.
Yeah..she should have had short permed blue hair like a respectable lady her age

So young women pretty, older women ugly.
You can't be serious.
Why not shut them all in their own ghettos so no one will have to suffer the fate of gazing upon their horrific visage?
Like it or not, your style makes a statement.
...and NO I do not subscribe that a person can wear what they want when in certain public areas...
Such as: A Church, A Court of Law, A College, or your local hospital. Most places of these public services carry reasons for certain attire...
I no more want to see an 80 year old wearing hot pants then I want to see a 20 something flaunting parts that her physician examines....
There is a customer I see twice a week...she is in her late 70's....She is CLASSY and Hip all in one! Somehow she can pull off wearing thigh high boots ....Maybe its because the rest of her outfit remains classy ...not trashy. Sure folks are mesmerized when she walks by....She sure does have a suave movement when she struts her stuff....Not trashy...Quite Classy Professor Lyn Slater comes to mind when I think of this style of fashion wear for mature ladies.
I hate to sound like the guys on the Meet the Press round table, but Look...
Whether one looks presentable in certain clothing has less to do with age than with whether the person wearing it is in good shape. There are plenty of young kids on the beach who look like a stack of waffles in their bikinis. Then again, why should I care how someone else dresses?
It's the same thing with eye makeup--women of a certain age shouldn't wear [gasp!] color because it's assumed we all have crepey, saggy, wrinkled skin, so they try to push the murky, muddy, muted taupes and browns on us. Gimmeabreak.
The world would be a better place if people minded their own damn business.
