I only wear makeup and nice clothes when I am with my boyfriend. Otherwise I wear sweatpants and sneakers and sweaters and no makeup. I go around with my hair looking terrible because I really don't care (don't worry I shower).
What do you think about this? Should I look nice everywhere I go?
I think you do care about this, otherwise why post it here for everyone to comment on?
A lot of people who deal with depression have a difficult time with self care, such as looking nice even when no one is around to notice it. If this has truly become a thing for you maybe you should seek some professional help.
If you're just bumming around then I suppose it doesn't really matter, but personally I always put effort in making myself presentable whenever I am out of the house - even if it is just a quick stop to the grocery or the gym. I would look on it favorably if my significant other shared the same etiquette.
I think what you are doing is perfectly fine. Unless you are looking for some guy to flirt with you, then yea, you might want to put make up on. Other than that, I say you are good to go girl.

I think you're exaggerating. I don't think you look like a slob just because you don't wear makeup--that's laughable. It's normal for some women to not wear makeup. It doesn't mean they're slobs. Wearing sneakers and sweaters don't make you a slob, either. I'm not sure where you're getting these ideas. As far as wearing sweatpants goes, it really depends on the sweatpants. Some outfits classified as "sweats" look very stylish.
So overall, I'd say "no" to your question. Not sure what "hair looking terrible" means, either. I assume you comb it when you get up, or before you go outside...?

Good point. OP, it sounds like you don't work. Do you have a job to go to? Or do you live with your parents?

Hmm, true! I agree. Thank you for sharing your opinion. I really appreciate it.
And my hair was bleached six times in a year due to my obsession with platinum locks. It's currently recovering. If not straightened it looks damaged. That's what I meant.

Why do you do this? Is it because you will run into someone you know?
I guess the point of this thread is that I want to know if people care about how they are perceived by others.
