DH, aged 76, buys most of his clothes at Eddie Bauer. But other, younger men do too. Eddie Bauer is outdoorsy, but I suppose some of their clothes might be borderline preppy.
I don't know anyone of any age personally now who dresses totally preppy. None of my kids do, nor my DH. Nor, anyone I have noticed in my acquaintance, of any age. This would go for both sexes. But I live in the Portland area, so preppy types are pretty thin on the ground here.
Nautical Preppy I can see being more popular with older men. IZOD is apparently trying to appeal to a younger audience with their Advantage line, and the Advantage Polo now does outsell their original Heritage Polo, although I don't have any sales data if there has been a shift in the average age of the typical buyer. Nautica also tried to appeal to a younger audience last year by partnering with Lil Yachty.

I've always seen U.S. Polo Association as a cheap, low-quality, down-market brand that just isn't in the same class as Lauren, Hilfiger, Lacoste, and the rest.

It is the least expensive of the brands that I mentioned in this thread, although it is somewhat above the private labels at JCPenney and Kohl's (generally priced in between private labels and below IZOD and Chaps). Many people incorrectly think it was designed to be a knockoff of Polo Ralph Lauren due to the similar looking logos, although it is actually the official brand of the real U.S. Polo Association, the governing body of the sport of polo in the United States.

I’d put LL Bean in with the Outdoor Preppy category. Their clothes are definitely classic.
None of that is popular around me. I have a teenager and the athletic preppy thing is big. Vineyard Vines is the big brand. Then the sporty stuff from UA, Nike, Adidas, etc. My 40 something husband is a big Peter Millar fan.
I do not see to many preppies around here. Save east coast transplants. They are very obvious. Most of them adopt Cali casual within a few months.
