Do you wash new clothes before wearing them? Not used thrift store clothes but new wrapped in plastic type clothes.

Why?
Why not?

Yes, it gets out the wrinkles from being folded, and makes them softer, more comfortable to wear. I don't bother doing that with new socks, however.

Always. I don't know where they've been and who's been touching them before I got ahold of them, and fabrics are often treated with chemicals to reduce wrinkles or have unset dyes.

thanks, guys.

think I'll put a load in my washing machine. They just feel so new. but you're right-that new feeling is probably some nasty chemical.

I always wash new clothes and new bedding before using.

There are chemicals in finishing solutions and critters where the items have been made and stored.

The only time I've ever washed new clothes before wearing them is the few times I purchased jeans which specifically said to wash separately before wearing because they would bleed during the initial washing. Otherwise, new and unwashed is fine with me.

No. One I am not allergic to anything they put on it and two I like the feel of new. Once washed clothes seem to lose something unless I starch the hell out of them. If you buy a wool coat you don't wash it do you? Or do you send everything to the dry cleaners when you first buy them. Bathing suits on the other hand, yes.
