"Do you guys frequently wash clothes by hand or in a washing machine?" I'm not trying to make a survey here. I just wanna know the difference where you guys live and where I live. Lots of people where I live still wash clothes by hand because they're scared that sometimes the washing machine damages the clothes. Besides, the clothing will be cleaner if they wash by hand.

Machine. In fact, I won't rent an apartment without a washer/dryer in the unit. My days of having clothing stolen are over, and the last time I lived in a place where the laundry was located in another building, some deranged person had come in and used several of the machines as a toilet. (Fortunately, not while they were in use!)

Sorry, the modern world uses a machine. Highly unlikely you could wash anything by hand better than the machine does it. They do not destroy clothes unless you use the wrong cycle or have a crappy machine. There's an awful lot of difference between where we live and where you live. Mod cut.

If I run out of clean clothes a day or two before getting home I might wash a few things by hand to get me home. Other than that I will always let a machine wash my clothes for me.

I only wash by hand the things that can't go in a machine ("delicates"), and I don't own many of these.

The only things I wash by hand are my hands, everything else goes into the machine.

Machine.

I even wash my "hand wash only" clothes (which I do own many of) in a machine on the gentle cycle.

Machine only. I try to not own anything that requires hand washing. I've never had a machine damage any of my clothes.
