Yes the speaker argues well for drawing when experiencing war. Kind of reminded me of a book which came out recently and documented the first day of the Somme in WWI where 60,000 British casualties occurred in those 24 hours. There are no pictures. The 'book' just contains a drawing 24 feet in length showing the calamity in high detail. I thought it real impressive since it is an artist's unique way through drawing instead of ohotography of coming to grips with the horror of that day in 1916. Thanks for the vid.

Many years ago in an Art history course I was amazed by the "raft of the Medusa" by Gericault from 1818. It is truly an example from the French romantic period and is very primal with its man against the sea theme and ultimatley man against man.
A few years back I was excited to see it hanging in the Louvre. I never knew how immense the actual canvas was. It is over 16 feet tall and 23 feet wide. A true masterpiece.

Yes, a great work by the artist.

And then on to a more common domestic scene. My appreciation of art grew with this painting by Sargent. Another master with that fine brushwork.

This one strikes me and has me lingering, of course for the plain reason, but also how the artist captured the exact emotions.

Good video.

I could've sworn that famous image was posted hereabouts before, but I can't find it. Anyway, here it is [again]:
