But it's weird that even some people working in the hospitality industry in Sedona won't crack a smile.

I've been traveling a lot this year, sometimes staying at the same property a week after a previous stay. Except for Sedona, everywhere I've been greeted with a smile and "Oh, I remember you!"

So what's with the Sedona freeze? Still bummed because Trump won?
I think it is tourist fatigue. The area over the last ten years has really gotten jammed up with Phoenix tourist. Same with Jerome. Try going when it is snowing a little and most of Phoenix stays home. People are more talkative and nice, at least they are/were in Jerome in a similar situation. I think Sedona is just overrun...shop help burned out a little. Just a guess. Or maybe with heavy thoughts like moving or where you should purchase your next home weighing on you that might have radiated out a little bit. Check back again and I bet people will be nicer.

I'll bet that on any nice-weather day in Sedona....

3% of the people are permanent Sedona-area residents (not retired)...

5% are employees who commuted over from the Verde Valley...

15% are second-home residents in Sedona who primarily live somewhere else....

15% are permanent Sedona-area residents (retired)...

15% are staying in a time-share for a week or so.....

15% are day-tripping Arizona residents from out of the area.....

32% are tourists from out of state staying for a day or three on the way to the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas......
