This is the fifth murder of a Florida law enforcement officer in two weeks... has Florida's criminal element decided to go to war with the police for some reason? What's going on?

Williams dead; corrections officer also killed (http://www2.jcfloridan.com/news/2011/feb/02/8/murder-suspect-may-be-holmes-county-ar-1415066/ - broken link)

The Florida Department of Corrections has confirmed the death of an officer who was shot Wednesday in the attempt to capture double-murder suspect Wade Andrew Williams.

Bonifay? This must be the first time that place has made the news in decades. The state has just been the victim of a few bad coincidences.

I'm sorry that the killing of law enforement/corrections officers is considered "a few bad coincidences". Florida's crimes are very serious for a variety of reasons and a governor who wants to cut the funding for corrections and law enforcement will see a state with more and more of these "bad coincidences". I hope none of the officers' families read this forum.

Well, since you don't agree that they were all unrelated incidents like I suggested, do you agree with the OP that Florida's criminal element has decided to go to "war" with the police?

In at least one of these cases, the cops in Miami, it didn't need to happen. Their procedures were flawed. The cops walk up and knock on the door to serve a guy wanted for murder and he comes out shooting. The neighbors could have told them the guy was armed and dangerous as they told the news people when interviewed. Not to mention the two cops, a man and a woman, were both under 5' 6 " and not the least intimidating. Police work is very dangerous and nothing should be taken for granted. I am just trying to be objective about what happened and what they did was just plain stupid.

That piece of garbage Schwartz reaped what he sowed... In a way' I pity him and the rest of the trashy officers who were quite cruel to the inmates... They were supposed to be just' and what I saw while incarcerated made me sick.. Yes inmates broke the law and have to serve there time for what they've done, but shouldn't be treated as inhumane as i'd witnessed... Florida is one corrupt state I will never return to visit....
