Hello all, I am in the early stages of deciding whether I would like to move to Florida from NJ. I know I'm going to have to take extra courses, and the school I graduated from here has a campus near Tampa. My retired parents are comtemplating the move as well & we would all probably look around Clearwater & the surrounding communities since my mother's extended family lives there.

I currently work for Massage Envy & am wondering if anyone could tell me what the pay is for therapists at Massage Envy's down there? I figure I'd look there to better my chances of having a job lined up once I did what I had to to meet Florida licensing.

Thank you!

I don't know the pay rate for the massage therapist, but I do know that the massages are advertised as $30 per massage. They don't have a great reputation for good massages. You get what you pay for (as a customer). They don't do deep tissue massage. Very basic, simple massage. Maybe Message Envy is different in NJ.

P.S. We moved from NJ (Fair Lawn) to Tampa 6 years ago. I hope you like it better down here than we do.

Thanks for the info. The Massage Envy's up here require that the therapists do deep tissue, first thing I was asked on my interview. Ours are advertised $49/session.

I live in Monmouth County now. I'm hoping to buy my first home in a few years & it seems if I plan wisely the best investment is to move out of NJ. Sucks, but life is getting too tough here & I've had enough of the winters.

Default florida pay rate

Massage envy in florida pays $15 PER HOUR to start. As you may know all massage envy's are independently owned and your seniority at the clinic you currently work at will not matter at the new one in florida. I live in the tampa bay area and generally speaking If you can find another spa to work in I recommend it. The massage envy's here do not have any respect for therapists. They consider the front desk associates much more important. All they care about is selling memberships. Also if you work at night they do not book the last hour of the night to non members. That is a lot of potential income that they turn away because they do not have time at the end of the night to sit the person down to give them the sales pitch. That's money out of your pocket.
The moral is very low among therapists when sitting in the break room and management does not care when complaints about the front desk are lodged they are ignored and not documented. But when front desk associates make complaints about the therapists there is always a write-up.
