They began to encourage non-Catholics to move there after the housing boom.
In a bad economy, even sinners buy groceries and pay taxes
Hmmmm weird. I'm a conservative Catholic however I'm also very Libertarian. I just don't think religion mixes well with politics. I think bans on things such as contraceptives go against freedom.

Port st lucie. It's miles and miles of plated residential lots with no sidewalks or neighborhood centers. It's city planners are working to correct it but it will take a long time. Look at it on google earth.

Lehigh Acres, still, is one of the most meaningless places I have been in the
United States, and the most meaningless in the state.

1. Nothing
there. Houses, houses and more houses.
My sister lives in Lehigh and I went to see her yesterday. It was the first time I have ever been to Lehigh and I totally agree with you. Ugly scenery, nothing to do, and like you said hardly anything but houses. Even the town center areas were ugly and were unimpressive.

I been around and some towns just small but Cocoa beach? it should be pumping with money with the tourism. I was sadden at it's run down state of no growth or improvment for being the middle of the state - close to Orlando and not in Daytona's path of motorcycles and cars.

You do know that there are two totally different parts of Cocoa Beach? Lots of people think that the tourist area in the north end around the hotels, Ron Jons and the Pier represent Cocoa Beach. We locals encourage that idea so that we can continue to enjoy the south end. From my office downtown I can walk to the beach and over two dozen restaurants and except for weekends, rarely see a bunch of tourists. Those that do come down here are concentrated at Coconuts. Most mornings when I walk to the coffee shop there isn't a single car in either direction on southbound A1A. Go even further south and it gets even better. You see run down. I see relaxed small town beach living. To each his own.
