If the lease has a transfer clause, it's usually a 50 mile requirement. Read your lease, it should clearly state conditions to break a lease. With knowledge, then talk to your landlord about a workable solution for you both. Good luck!

No. Unless you are in the military and transferred, there is no legal reason to break the lease. You can talk to the landlord, but that's the deal.

You signed a contract. Both you and the landlord are expected to abide by it.

Why would the landlord care? You agreed to pay rent for a time certain.

Not unless the landlord agrees. It really doesn't matter why you want to break the lease. The landlord may have compassion for you if there is truly a hardship but he is in no way obligated to let you break the lease.

what if you are a renter and request to have a alarm system installed and owner refuses then your home is broken into and and you are robbed, then you inquire again for an alarm and they deny you again and then they charge you for the demage (breaking the window to gain access)the criminal did. For safety purposes can you break your lease, providing you have police report etc.... my personal experience with Land lord of Coldwell banker

Unless your lease states the landlord will install and pay for an alarm, the landlord does not have to do so. You can do it, with written permission, however.

Robbery is not a valid reason for breaking the lease as you described it.

I would suggest you discuss your concerns and see what you can negotiate. Your landlord may allow you to pay for an alarm, if that gives you piece of mind.

Fire damage is very expensive to clean up totally. The price you estimate seems extremely low. My mom's home sustained fire damage and it started in the basement of her PA home. It took the "professionals" 7months to rid the home of smoke and repaint again and again costing over $75k. . Your landlord should live in your apt during clean up because the rental unit must be habitable and yours is not....I am sure you did not sign an agreement that says you must live your residence with the smell of fire damage through and through....The smells of fire never go away from clothes, matresses, blankets, drapes, towels, etc.. I would file a claim against the unit to repay you for your damage.

Good luck and no one should be told to live in a residence when it is being cleaned by "professionals" after fire damage...
