Guys lets all calm down, we are all good peeps, we just have different opinions etc. i like both FL and NC. But I do agree with NLF, from what I've seen and noticed, living in NC for a long time as well as in FL, there is a difference between the ppl. i'm not saying one is better or worse, but it is different.

Governor Scott would probably put me on his no fly list if he ever heard what I say to people on planes when I go back and forth to NY. Oh, how WONDERFUL you now live in Florida year round! It is a two and a half hour flight. Let me tell you just how wonderful it is. OMG, I had NO IDEA. I have never heard anyone say anything like that. Thank you, for telling me that. Yes, people have said that to me. What I have to say will never be heard in any TV Come to Florida Commerical.

BTW, Governor Scott, you did not get my vote either.

Edit: No, I wll not change my mind, regret it, or move back. When I crossed the Florida border on June 6, 2007 at 11:30 AM, my goal has been to leave. Each day that passes is one day closer to 2016.

Florida actually has the highest percentage of people who LEAVE the state than any of the top 5 states.

Texas Continues to Be

...but they're replenished by tons of retirees, births and immigrants. A Floridian is more likely to leave Florida than a Californian, and New Yorker is to leave their respective states...even with the low COL benefits of FL. That doesn't sound healthy at all to me. It's not as alarming when they people flee expensive places, but Florida is dirt cheap yet it's still the leader in people moving away. The median age in Florida is continuously increasing and the place is getting poorer. Brain drain going on in Florida. Florida does not attract higher educated people and the big corporations you find in NY, TX and CA.

Tell your Governor to ask *smart people*, innovation and Fortune 500 companies to move to the state, not just annoying Northerner retirees who don't add much to the economy and penniless peasants and scammers who failed in NY or wherever. When NYers who work for companies like Time Warner and Goldman Sachs, or the Californians who work for Apple, Google or Chevron move to Florida, then you have something to be happy about.

Florida has actually become poorer in the past decade.

South Florida is the most cash poor region of America yet the Governor thinks asking more retirees and morons to move to Florida will solve the problem? Really?

I am one Floridian who would gladly trade places with someone living in certain other states. But for now, I simply could not leave the state because of family ties that are too important.

I'm not sure it's good that a lot of people move to Florida, while a lot of people are leaving. Sounds like a community in upheaval, but what kind of upheaval?

What are we going to do when we've exhausted all of the land to build on? That's already happened in Pinellas County and will happen soon in Broward.
Maybe the governor is looking for people from the north with $$$, to pay for the rising number of Floridians that are on welfare and government assistance? The money they bring in on a part time basis is nothing compared to what they would spend annually...
