LOL! I wish I had that option. I get to go outside and walk a couple of miles a day (which I'm okay with), and start sweating after the first block or two.

Some days i dont mind the heat here, and other days i just want to jump in a tub full of ice! Working outside here in FLA is ok for about 2 months of the year, after that; it is pure misery. I miss my seasons, but then again i feel like if i do live up north again, i will miss it in FL and want to come back. Ive done it once already... here is the order. NY - NJ - FL - NY - FL (currently) and might be NY again next month. I guess i am a true libra and just cant make up my mind!

I hear many northerners complain about how awful winters are up there, well down here between June and September I feel the same as you guys up there in the winter,I truly get depressed.I mean it's already hot in April and May but not as bad but then comes June and it gets hotter, then July, even hotter, rain everyday, hurricanes,August, even hotter.Eventually October comes and you start looking at the weather for a rare cold front to come by and maybe bring the high temps down to 80,but they don't come and it's still 90 everyday, but at least there's hope, between June and September it's just constant agony.I've just come to realize I need to get out of here Between June and September,I'm still trying to figure out how to afford a 4 month vacation,if someone has any tips??

Florida is getting hotter. All you have to do is look at historical records. In the 1950's at Orlando Executive the average temperature in July seemed to be about 88 or 89. Now it's more like 91-92. Also January had more "cool" snaps than today. Orlando was actually in a temperate climate zone, now the zone is more like South Florida. Part of this is due to the urban heat island effect- asphalt and dark roofs retain heat and warms everything up. I lived in Tampa during the cold snap they had there and I remember camping out in some weather where it was in the 40's for an extended period.

I don't miss snow (what's so great about snow?) but I do miss an occasional bit of cool air. Orlando does get some but it never seems to last long enough. I spent some time in Alabama and while it has hot summers they do have a fall there- not much of a winter (very little snow or ice).

I like the weather in England, too. It rarely got very hot, or very cold. It was dark alot, and rained alot... but I'm not crazy about sunshine anyways.

I was reading about the same thing. I love England and New England, I figure in time it won't be so cold there and I will be able to spend more time there. I need sunshine and warmth and I can't take the snow.

I would get tired of 80 degree winters too. It's bad for your health.

How is it bad for your health?

I am healthier here then I have been elsewhere, Dallas/Fort Worth or near Boston.

I RARELY take medication for pain and I no longer get really sick at least once a year with respiratory problems.

The sunlight keeps me more cheerful.

Imagine how much the heat and humidity affect the elderly with their respiratory issues, not to mention heat stroke, etc. Being in extreme heat is more dangerous than being in extreme cold.

Please. What 7 months are those??

It always amazes me how much people whine about the weather no matter where they live....

it's too hot
it's too cold
it's too windy
it's too dry
it's too humid
it's too rainy

I love all the extremes of weather. I wish I worked outside. Still trying to think of a good job I could get outdoors.

Here is a more realistic lay out of our seasons:

Dec, Jan, Feb, March-Winter (4 months)
Apr, May-Spring (2 months)
June, July, August-Summer (3 1/2months)
Sept, Oct, Nov Fall (2 1/2 months) (hardly 20 minutes and just a beautiful season!)

I do outdoor activities year round regardless of the weather and love it.
I might add that it is currently 33 degrees out right now in MN in the middle of Jaunuary.

Default That's not true...

I have to disagree. I think BOTH are just as dangerous to elderly people. My father can't function outside the house in winter here as well as the summer. He has acute asthma. Any kind of extreme temp can set off breathing problems.
Although, I have asthma too and I find I use my inhaler more in the winter than in the summer.
When I was in Florida a few years back there was a bad heat wave at the end of May. They kept saying on the radio that they were having August-like weather in May. Don't remember the exact temp but I know it was very high. The humidity was unreal, but I'm glad I got the chance to experience it. Yeah, I felt like I needed to go into my shower to 'dry' off, but I wasn't wheezing and my chest wasn't tight. I definitely wouldn't want to do anything outside in it though.
