We have a Republican Governor who should be serving time in prison rather than terms as Governor. This man is right wing crazy who doesn't even want people using the words climate change or global warming around him. Nothing changes until we get someone else in office with more informed ideas.

I'm sure his recent opposition in the election ( Crist) would have done more for the environment than just ban usage of discussing the topic. Alas the majority of the voting public appears to have voted Scott into office Obviously the wrong move if you are concerned about Global Warming.. Personally i cant believe Floridians voted this obvious crook into office as their governor and i suspect he cooked the election in some way, however thats just my baseless opinion.

The 1.3 mm rise in sea level per year sounds awful slow. Is the a reliable reference to that figure?

There is no sea rise. There is no climate change. We won in Vietnam. Firearms make us safer and save lives. Oops, I think I was channeling the governor.

NYC, CT and other sea level places don't seem to be worried about it either.

Really? You have no idea what you are talking about. NYC DEP has been working on this issue for almost a decades and the city has put billions of dollar to safeguard its assets from sea level rise and climate change impacts. Is that not worrying about it in your book?

Yes REALLY. The most they could TRY to do is protect the subways which is impossible. Keeping NY harbor out of the under street network of wiring and what not would also be impossible. They couldnt even prevent the runways at JFK and LGA from going under. Parts of Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island would be underwater if a CAT 4 hit. Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the release of the "New York City Panel on Climate Change’s 2015 report, Building the Knowledge Base for Climate Resiliency". The first study of its kind.

FYI: A 2011 study ClimAID 2011 provided the first state-scale projections of sea-level rise along New York's coastlines and estuaries.

It wasnt until 2010 that New York State began to take the threat of sea level rise attributed to climate change seriously.

After Hurricane Sandy hit the mayor of NYC at that time (Bloomberg) proposed a $19.5 billion plan which calls for the construction of permanent levees, sand dunes, portable storm barriers, and other climate defenses. That was in 2012. In 2012 they were talking about work on a flood protection system for Manhattan’s Lower East Side among other programs.

In 2015 Mayor de Blasio announced the release of the New York City Panel on Climate Change’s 2015 report, Building the Knowledge Base for Climate Resiliency

So tell me what you know and we can see who knows what they are talking about.

You said NYC doesn't seem to be worried about sea level rise and I told you don't know what you are talking about. You then went and searched all the works that demonstrates that they ARE worried about it and doing something about it. What exactly is your point?

What are you talking about?? I lived on the CT coast in Fairfield County for my entire life (until I moved to FL on May 1st). OF COURSE Connecticut is worried about it!! Its a HUGE issue in the entire tri-state area (NY/NJ/CT).
