Every state in America has its own unique criminal element. Florida has a reputation for having some scary looking characters lurking around. I've lived in urban areas all my life and have seen my fair share of shady looking people (Massachusetts has quite a few, the state benefits for them are good here) but I will admit Florida has a unique flavor. I never feel uncomfortable or unsafe anywhere. I was in South Beach and Miami recently (both are GREAT cities and I absolutely love florida) but there were a few people there that made my skin crawl when they walked by. I didn't feel unsafe but they were just sketchy in ways that even I hadn't seen before.

Florida, for an unknown reason, has an extremely high number of sex offenders. I'm not sure why this is- perhaps these people are fleeing the law or looking to start over in a cheap, warm place. My mother and father worked on an alligator farm outside of Sebring in '92, and my mother says that Florida was known for "weird, transient people" even back then too. I think that Florida's criminal element (ghetto looking types, homeless/street people, drug addicts, etc.) are just scarier than most other places. Every state has its own unique "underworld" if you will, and one of them has to be scarier than the rest. I'd say California and New Jersey would be up next but Florida takes the crown.

It must be EXTREEEEMELY frustrating to live in a place that is populated with so many people that you don't approve of.

You must be on edge and wound up tight for most of your waking day.

I would be wary of ever saying things like that Germany had a population of nearly 80,000,000 in 1940. Numbers don't mean Jack Johnson!

Belle Glade is the creepiest place in Florida, probably.

As far as the nutcases, well, those are the people that were rejects up north so they came to Florida. It's not Florida's fault these creepers, like snakes, are attracted to warm sultry weather.

Exactly! Lol-Funny reading about those complaining about Wack Jobs in Florida when 95% of those Sickos are from UP NORTH. Spring Hillian and any other Migrants to Florida-If you have to always complain, then feel free to load up your Van and hit I-75. Florida's most famous interstate runs mostly NORTH and south. Bon voyage!
