That's true, maybe head west to Alabama, or somewhere ic the storm is headest east.

It's all in the timing and what the high and low does. Storm has great outflow and exhaust at this time and looks perfect.
Please make sure to tell the local authorities so they won't waste resources coming to check on you. It would be a shame for a first responder to be killed trying to save someone who has a death wish.

It is never too early. The smart folks are already north of Florida now.

For some one who professes so much about the weather i find it odd you cant envision the destructive power of a cat 5 hurricane, your chances of survival are slim.

Prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Although a cat 5 is pretty hard to prepare for.

The problem won't be if your area gets hit by the brunt of a category 5 hurricane and kills you; the problem will be if your area gets hit by the brunt of a category 5 hurricane and it DOESN'T kill you. Your house will be ruined and likely uninhabitable. It will take months (and who knows, maybe a year or more) for it to become inhabitable or get re-built. In the meantime, unless you've got a friend or relative somewhere reasonably nearby who would be willing to home you for an extended period of time, your life will be miserable. If you have to live in a shelter, that, my friend, is a horrible place to try to stay, as I can personally attest having once tried that during an extended blackout after a winter storm in the Seattle area. It was such a miserable place, after several hours of trying to get some sleep, I gave up and called a taxi to take me home to my frigid apartment. You will spend ungodly hours trying to communicate with insurance reps, construction contractors, maybe some federal or state agents, and a whole host of other things just trying to get your life in order. Again, I remind you this is going to go on for months. It will be such a harrowing and miserable experience you might wish you had been killed after all. I won't even mention the grief you might have to put up with as you learn friends and family have been killed. Heck, you might even get lucky yourself and get severely injured, at least that way you can stay in a hospital for some amount of time, with (hopefully) heat, food and a roof over your head.

Does gainesville typically get hit with hurricanes? I'm in palm bay, and was thinking of skipping town to maybe gainesville if needed.
