The people in central and northern Florida are nice to you if you are nice to them. If you go to Tallahassee for the UM/FSU football game and tell them you are from Miami, they will say they welcome you, as they are happy to take your money
(it does help if you are an FSU fan too though), but it is all in good fun.
Basically, I think if urban northerners/South Floridians go somewhere in the South and attempt to blend in and stay quiet until you can get the feel of the place, you will be welcomed with open arms. If you go somewhere new and act brash and superior, the people will (justifiably) be suspicious of you, no?
