I left Florida last October to go back to MA, came back 10 days ago, and I am getting calls about jobs DAILY. It depends on how you apply yourself...

The street I live on in Cape Coral is just the same as it was 2-4-6 years ago. Yes 1 foreclosure at the end of the street, but still full. So I do not see the "leaving in droves" part... It is bad all over, as I found out the hard way.

I left Florida after living here for 6 months when I was 21 years old. I never regretted it in all 30 years up north. My 30 year old daughter left a month ago aftering being here 4 months. She is very, very happy to be back home among her friends, and her sister. All she did here in Naples was go to work, come home, and watch TV. As she herself said, "I had no life there." "Where are all the YOUNG PEOPLE in Naples, Florida?" No, she will not be back.

It takes a certain kind of person to live here. Not everbody can live here. I am one of them.

Do not forget to mention a large majority of people who moved out of Florida are either already back in Florida, planning on moving back or post they cannot wait to get back to Florida.

Someone should have asked you why do you want to move to Florida?

Once you answer that then better advise can be given.

There are no jobs in Ohio either and if you are going to be poor you might as well be warm in a state that cost less to live then Ohio.

You can live much cheaper in Florida then Ohio. Fact is if I move my same house to a town of my choice in Florida I automatically save 20% from day one.

We made the HUGE mistake of leaving Florida 20+ years ago around your age and regretted it ever since.

There are ways to make money in Florida other then working at Burger King like most here post.

If I was 21 again and had no responsibilities and wanted to go to school I would be in Florida by morning!

Do your research and post why you wanted to move to Florida.
I'm one of those people who left and can't wait to move back.
I'm just saying that now is not a good time to move anywhere with nothing. ( no savings, etc.)
where are you gonna stay? Even if you have a passive income you still need to have money for first month's rent, deposit, etc (unless you want to live in a motel on 192)
I'm not saying you shouldn't make the move, just make it a little easier on yourself
