My grandma on my Dad's side had a hip replacement recently and she's in her mid 80's. She lives in Asheville NC. She used to live in FL and loves NC and the mountains.

lol...a topic about the cold temps brought out a contest of the able bodied!! Too Funny!

We had some ice chips around 9:30 when I 1st headed out. They were very light flakes by the time I got out of Pet Co around 11.
All gone now.
Got me some hot chocolate going....it will be over soon.

As a South Fla native, I totally know where you are coming from, this weather is HIGHLY unusual. According to tonite's weather forecast on the news, today's high temps in the low 40°s is so unusual that it only occurs once in 50yrs. It actually snowed here on my birthday, Jan 19, '77, but I was too young to remember. I too was hoping for snow, hey it's already raining. The downside for me is that I have two dogs that need to go out and it will be in the 20°s tonite. I'm actually going to pull out my down jacket which I haven't worn in close to ten yrs and even then it wasn't down here but in New Hampshire. I also heard on the news that Mon. morning will be even colder! But, probably because I am a Native, I am enjoying this because I do realize just how rare this is, plus I figure it's practice for my move up North next yr. I better get used to it as it will be much, much colder in NH or MN which are the two areas where we are considering a move.

I'm truly happy for those in Florida that got to see a little snow and/or sleet. I have a friend in Clermont and one in Ocala who said they got some snow earlier this morning. My friend in Melbourne said it stayed all rain with them, but I KNOW it got close (heard reports on the news that there was sleet in Northern Brevard around Titusville).
Looking at the radar now, it's raining and 40 degrees in Wellington (Western Palm Beach Co.) but the air is so dry that I'm sure it will stop raining soon if not already. Any further north and I see rain/sleet on the radar but nothing hitting the ground.

As for here (Savannah), we had "flurries" in our forecast for early thursday morning but it stayed too warm overnight and it ended all rain for us. Still no snow. Today was very cold though, stayed at or below 32 until 1pm, then it only warmed to about 37 when the sun came out. Now it's back to 32. Headed down to 22. Loving this!!

no snow in Orlando. With the constant hype for the last few days it would have been nice but no luck. Nada.

Are you sure? I know there was snow in Ocala and a friend who lives in Orlando told me they did get snow. Maybe it didn't make it all over the area?

That tiny amount of snow people got to see cost billions. Cheaper to drive to TN and have a look at a lot more.

Saw a "dusting" in some of the pictures people had sent in on the orlandosentinel.com website. But I really wouldnt call it "snow."

But that doesnt really make much sense, IMO. I was born in FL, and tired of the heat and humidity, but that doesnt mean I would take drastic measures and move to Alaska. And, I just dont understand how many folks from up north, who are tired of the cold, would take such drastic measures by moving to FL to get all the heat and humidity. somewherer in the middle seems like the best solution, that way, you cant complain about the weather all the time.
