They destroy our country with little regard for anything but their own short term gains. Add to that our own government who are bought and sold, there is no other way to say it and we as citizens mean nothing.

People like the Tea party guys who believe they are taking things into their own hands are little more the stooges for a whole different group of what are political opportunists who will use them for their own gains. I doubt anything has changed for a thousand years, be it Rome or Washington, those in power are corrupt. I don't say it was their intention when they went into politics, many may in the beginning have had the highest of ideals but it is just the nature of the beast.
It will never change until federal elections are publicly funded. Getting as much money and corporate influence out of elections and campaigns should be a change that people on the left, right, and middle can agree to.

At the moment its kinda like he who gets the most money wins, i think there should be some kind of cap on campaign spending.

BP are such a bunch of liars. The truth came out later yesterday afternoon - at the point the LA Times was reporting the leak had been stopped, Top Kill's *operation* had already been stopped for 15 hours and no one in the public was notified. Multi-billion dollar company and this guy comes out and says "everyone was so focused on the operation that we forgot to let the public know." Yeah, right...their PR dept must have been so focused on praying for the leak to stop, that no one had the time to let the American public know what was going on!! They're a textbook case in bad PR.

Yeah really. To the ones who are worried about your vacations, look on the positive side: at least you don't live here and potentially have to deal with it for years.
