[quote=Fontucky;15853382]Vanilla wafers must be Nabisco Nilla Vanilla. Store brands don't cut the mustard.
Coffee filters. Bunn makes the best for my Bunn machine.
Relish has to be Del Monte. Store brands are always too vinegary and bland.
Clorox bleach. I use less of it compared to the watery store brands, and it comes in the big jugs.
I totally agree.... Nabisco Van wafers are the best. I think I have tried every brand out there. Nothing comes close.
Clorox is the only bleach I use also.
I forgot who mentioned it, but .....3# bag of potato chips...HOLY COW !!!!
I hope you didn't eat all those yourself. I can't even imagine a 3# bag of potato chips. Just seems like so many/much.................
Maybe cause we don't eat potato chips
As far as I'm concerned, I can go generic for anything that has a substitute. Cheese soup? The only one I know is Campbell's. Onion soup mix? only Lipton. But otherwise, if I can find a store brand for it, I'll buy it.
Whoa. People EAT 'nilla wafers? All this time, I thought their total function was to cradle banana puddin'.
Diet drinks. Can't stomach any diet drinks other than name brand. Then it has to be coke zero or diet pepsi. Regular diet coke has to be doctored with copious amounts of lemon or lime.
I have tried store brand canned tomatoes when making my spaghetti sauce (gravy) with h/m meatballs and sausage. I find however, San Mazano & Glen Muir are still the best quality without any after taste.
No cream of mushroom soup other than Campbell's, no mayo other than Hellman's. And while it's not an absolute, very few ranch dressings equal Hidden Valley.
Whatever happend to the black and white packaged items? They were the ultimate generic products.
Many store brands are made by the same big boys you buy with pretty labels (e.g. Nabisco makes our local grocer's cookies). You can look at the packaging and find the manufacturer.

Around here they were blue and white and had the product class on the label in huge type size, such as RICE or SPAGHETTI SAUCE. Very generic, and quite a bargain if I recall correctly. The labeling reminded me of the boxed rations I ate in the military.
The only saltine I like is Premium; ditto on nilla wafers. Hubby only drinks name brand soda and eats name brand chips.
