Hubby is putting new flooring down in the dining room/kitchen ...which is now just a large kitchen because he removed a cabinet which separated the two rooms....and the "dining room" had carpet...and now its hard wood flooring all across the two rooms....it so nice! He didn't get done until about 8 last night, so we had a very late dinner around 9 - Chicken with pasta primavera. Its one of the favorites here, and it doesn't take too long to make. Today he's finishing the project and hopefully we won't eat so late, but I'll make him whatever he wants because he's worked so hard on my new floor! Plus...he got laid off about a month ago and he starts his new job tomorrow...so he needs a good luck dinner anyway!

Nice! Your dinner sounds terrific and the floors sound FABULOUS! Super-congratulations and super-luck to Mr. Nic about his new job!

PS. I'm out of reps for you, too. Darn system.

Great news, Nic!

We're throwing ourselves a barbecue today but we forgot to invite anybody over

Beef ribs, chicken bratwurst, grilled zuchinni & bell pepper. I'm I were having company I'd thaw out some pinto beans and make a salad too.

Today is my birthday and it has sucked.. Living 700 miles from home and DH had to work... So the poo's and I made my birthday cake. Its a new strawberry recipe I found in one of my old cookbooks. Don't think I am going to like the frosting but we will see...Can't be too bad can it? It has fresh strawberries in it...
Happy belated birthday. We could have all came over and shared your cake

I found a bunch of asparagus in the crisper this morning. We bought it last weekend. It's still good, so I'm going to make it (broil it) all tonight.

I'll also steam the little bit of broccoli and green beans that are left, and mix that all up with cheese tortellini, drizzled with EVOO and garlic and red pepper flakes. Asparagus will be on the side.

I think I saw DH take a ham steak out so I know he'll BBQ that and I will make some sweet potatoe patties and some kind of veggie--not sure what kind yet!

meatloaf and pizza sauce.

I appear to be out of catsup, and I'm not going to run out and buy more just yet. The jar of pizza sauce will be an adequate substitute.
