It's missing something that makes it taste better. Argh. Maybe that saying should be soup without liquid. That doesn't have the same ring to it, though.
My grandmother used to say to us "A day without orange juice is like a day without sunshine" She always had us drink orange juice with our breakfast. It was very inportant to her that we drank this. An Apple a day keeps the doctor away is one I have heard for many years.
"My, my...I'm full as a tick." (After a heavy meal)
"Mmmmm, that was LARRUPIN'!" (Really good)
(My dad to my mom - as a JOKE): "Hey, woman - why don't you get in that kitchen and make a noise with the pots and pans?"
"You are what you eat."
"Love me some yard bird." (Chicken)
"Kissin' don't last - cookin' do."
"Slow down - you're eatin' like a field hand."
(Old commercial) "I can bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan - but never never never let you forget you're a man!"
"Red beans and rice didn't miss her!" (Thank you, Sir MixALot!)
