We just don't have time for me to fix a good hot breakfast from scratch so I've been considering partially frying bacon and storing it in the fridge and then finish cooking it by portion each morning. I'm sure this isn't a new idea but I've never done it before.
Anything I need to know before I try this? one thing I'm afraid of is I might end up cooking the whole lb of bacon and then eating it by myself when i get them off to school. I do love me some bacon and now that they are talking about how scarce it is going to be, Bacon is all I think of.
I answered my own question. Google is our very best friend
I prepare bacon in the oven - I think it comes out so much better this way, flatter and crisper. That way you can cook a lot at a time if you want, and just reheat later. I don't tend to do that though, I like to prepare it each time I want to eat it.
You can microwave bacon pretty fast.....use a paper plate and paper towels.....2 towels under the bacon, and one over it, so it won't spatter... M-wave about 1 min per slice.....you may want to check at about 15-30 sec. before that, depending on how "crispy" you like it. Works great.
How much time do you need? It only takes minutes to fry bacon.
of course it only takes minute to fry it but it is the clean up which gets to me. I don't save the grease, don't put it down the drain and have to wait till it is cool enough to put in the trash, then i have to clean the pan and the cook top before we leave the house.
Actually I just cooked in the oven 2 lbs of bacon and only had two cookie sheets which cleaned up quickly. I saved some for tonight's supper and froze the rest for later. and I was reasonably good about how much I ate.

Serious question; Why? Why do you HAVE to clean the pan before you leave? You could clean the cook top and save the pan for when you return home. Or, if I need to clean a bacon pan before the grease cools, I put the fat into a ramekin to cool and then deal with the ramekin later.

Following my mom's lead, I've always had a "grease can" in the fridge. Take an empty tin can, drain hot grease into it, put it in the fridge and throw it away when it's full. No big deal.

Ditsy- because I don't want my house to smell of cooking odors, because I have counter surfer cats and because i don't like to leave my house with dirty pots and pans sitting around.
This is not a housekeeping thread- it is about cooking bacon. your name suits you well.
