I agree, pretty gross, luckily it hasn't never been something you would find on our holiday table. I can't stand fruit cake but hubby loves it: I am not a sweets eater period so none of the desserts really excite me. Oh, I like sone of them between the holidays, but after a huge dinner, I have to force myself to even be polite and eat a piece of something. I do like apple pie; that is why I usually am the one to bring it.
Thumbs down to:
Green bean casserole.
Any hard candy-ie ribbon candy, peanut brittle, etc.
Not a huge fan of ham. Prefer turkey as long as it's fresh and cooked correctly
There's more but that's all I can think of right at the moment.
Oh my goodness, I must be so weird---I like almost all the foods mentioned here! Except, that is, for the lutefisk--yuck!!! I also dislike pickled herring. Being from a northern midwest state (with mostly Scandinavian roots), pickled fish is often served as a side dish at holidays---never liked it. I also usually pass on the eggnog (too thick & sweet).
